Game of the Week: USC at Cal

An explanation of the college football breakdown

Cal took a beating last week on the field and in the polls, but events last week were almost as condemning of USC. That USC failed to score 200 points against Washington State is further evidence that they have no offense, and we learned that Washington isn't actually good when they lost to Stanford, so USC had no excuse for getting Lockerized.

The Matrix picks a toss-up. USC has a slight match up advantage-it has played killer run defense and Jahvid Best must get off for Cal to have a chance. But Cal at home has been a different team than Cal on the road-they are much less likely to give up in classic Pac-10 fashion. I'm curious to see if Cal can avoid the annual meltdown this season, and beating USC would be a big step in that direction.
